ABOUT DARK SHADOWS

Dark Shadows is the cult classic gothic television serial that aired on ABC from June 27, 1966 to April 2, 1971. The program is set in Collinsport, Maine and deals with the many tragedies of the cursed Collins family who inhabit the brooding Collinwood mansion. Overlooking the turbulent waters of the Atlantic Ocean, Collinwood seems to draw all manner of supernatural terror to its doorstep. Best known for its iconic vampire star Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid), Dark Shadows also featured werewolves, ghosts, time travel, witches, warlocks, zombies, cursed lottery rooms, mad scientists, Frankenstein-like monsters, parallel universes, and much more. The show, which spawned feature films and a plethora of merchandise, garnered a devoted fanbase that is just as loyal today as it was when the program originally aired.

The Terror at Collinwood podcast was named after one of Dan Curtis’ proposed titles for DS. This show focuses on Dark Shadows’ storylines and characters while exploring the show’s important place in horror, fantasy, and pop culture history, celebrating its special status among Monster Kids and the “searchers after horror” who “haunt strange, far places”… like Collinsport! In addition to fan conversations about DS lore and plotlines, the podcast also features interviews and interesting behind-the-scenes discussions with cast and crew members from Dark Shadows. ABOUT PENNY DREADFUL

Danielle Gelehrter is also known as Penny Dreadful XIII, a television horror movie hostess from Massachusetts in New England. She is the two-time winner of the Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Award for Favorite Horror Host (2007 & 2010). In 2014, Penny Dreadful was inducted into the Horror Host Hall of Fame, and in 2023 she was inducted into the Rondo Awards Monster Kid Hall of Fame. Along with her “snarling darling” Garou, she hosted Penny Dreadful’s Shilling Shockers for ten years. She is a longtime fan of gothic horror and is obsessed with Dark Shadows, her favorite television show of all time. In addition to acting in local theatre shows and performing in improv comedy troupes, Danielle has worked as a freelance writer for Dark Horse Books, Mattel, and Super7. When she’s not talking about Dark Shadows or hosting horror movies on local TV, Danielle works as an adjunct English professor. She has taught college writing and literature courses since 2011.
